The Occupation Party (TOP) is of the position that the political process in America belongs to the people of the United States. Therefore, TOP does not accept contributions of money and/or any item(s) or series of items of significant financial value from any special interest group(s), lobbying group(s), PAC(s), super-PAC(s), and/or non-profit organization(s), regardless of operating structure, and/or corporate entity(ies), government agent(s), and/or agency(ies). Although TOP finds common ground with many such groups and sources and may respect and appreciate the work they do, TOP does not accept contributions from them.
For present purposes, “special interest group” means any discernible group that regularly attempts to influence legislators in favor of one or more particular interests or issues. The term also includes any discernible group whose members control some field of activity and/or have common aims and pursue them as a unit.
Our policy requires that contributions meet the following criteria:
1. They must be made by a United States citizen or a permanent resident alien.
2. The funds do not come from the treasury, demand, and/or investment account(s) of any special interest group(s), lobbying group(s), PAC(s), super-PAC(s), or non-profit organization(s), regardless of operating structure, or corporate entity(ies), government agent(s), or government agency(ies).
3. The funds do not come from the treasury, demand, and/or investment account(s) of an entity or person who is a local, state, and/or federal contractor with corresponding annual gross income in excess of $200,000.00.
4. The funds being donated are not provided by any person(s) or entity(ies) other than the purported contributor.
TOP will not endorse or accept advertising from special interest group(s), lobbying group(s), PAC(s), super-PAC(s), and/or non-profit organization(s), regardless of operating structure, and/or corporate entity(ies), government agent(s), and/or government agency(ies).
TOP will not endorse or accept gifts relating to travel, including but not limited to use of vehicles, use of aircraft, use of watercraft, lodging, or meals.
Any candidate or legislator who carries TOP endorsement will not write, sponsor, or otherwise participate in legislation that is specifically beneficial to any previous employer of said candidate or legislator or to the employer of any member of his or her immediate family. Our candidates will recuse themselves from voting on legislation of this type unless their constituents express an overwhelming opinion on the matter.
These policies are in place to limit the influence of money in politics and shall be liberally construed to accomplish that end. Generally, they are not meant to preclude the ratification by TOP of another’s position on one or more issues, and/or corresponding mutual support, bartering, co-sponsorships, coalitions, and the like.
